Downsized

You know you are in trouble when you downsize from a real car to a shopping cart.

However, that might be the reality for some right now. I believe the belt tightening has hit everyone in some shape or form and the time thrift is upon us.

What interests me most is how people will deal will it and what will remain of our previous lifestyles. Do you skip on your favorite but lush dinners, or do you cook in to save for them later? Will you skimp on new gear or find the one year old used car instead of paying a premium on the new one.
Design too, will become more resourceful where salvaged materials form your next idea and supersize your creativity.

Because the value of building something yourself will always overshadow its cost.

The Name Game

Do you every wonder how parents or potential business owners come up with the names for their kids, companies, stores, etc? It probably involves a lot of brainstorming a ton of names, crazy ones in fact, then taking the core mission or purpose or family genealogy to break it down into a pile of keepers with the rest coming to rest in the trash.

In the case of company names, you have to think of all kinds of conotations that your store front, concrete or otherwise will attract. For instance if you have a publicly traded company you don't name it Wang. If your last name is Trickle, you don't name your child Richard, unless of course you know he will race NASCAR for a living, in which case it is perfactly acceptable. Or hilarious.

So I am totally at a loss for a man with the last name of Power naming his child Richard. Its an old company, 1950's, that I've never heard of, and possibly with good reason...

New Year, New Laughs

It doesn't matter I didn't find it, but HTATBL did, and that's all that matters.

I was going to make a video too, but no one has written a song called I want a job.

The new year started off with a muffled bang and awkward sounds of turning over on a air mattress. I was graciously invited to travel to Crested Butte for the weekend, staying just a few blocks from downtown CB and one of the better burrito joints around. Our hosts were super kind and the skiing was so sweet.

With a few new books and job prospects on hand it is a busy transition back to the daily grind. With my particular version becoming more and more common with businesses tanking left and right. I'm pedaling furiously to keep up, but I think I just need to get off my tricycle and get onto a proper sized bicycle.

The Newest Craze

Skate...boarding...?

Evidently if you wait long enough in between mainstream media coverage it is enough to reset the fadometer to zero, giving news groups something to talk about. Or they could merely be saving my sanity by not publishing the latest air strike in Gaza, or Panhandling Corporation asking for a bailout.

The highlights of this video were the first usage of the Blue Danube Waltz during the montage of tricks and crashes and the news room set that looks like it got attacked by the Beige Boys gang out of Oakland.

Thanks to the NY Times for reminding me to check the pool of my vacation home in Cali: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/29/us/29pools.html?hp

Me Gusta Esquiar

Ripping the back bowls at Vail after 12" of fresh snow.

Soaking up all the...powder...at Keystone?

Imagining all of the sensuous lines to be had in the mountains.

Good friends, reminders as to why I love living in Colorado.

Some Boulder alleyway painting.

Don't take this one the wrong way. I view it like this; If Love is what propels us to follow our dreams and passions, highlighted by our relationships and experiences, then it also holds us to the strictest of standards. Love pushes you the hardest because it knows what you are capable of achieving and being, even if you can't see your full potential.

So when Love pushes, you listen, learn and carve the most emphatic powder turns of your life!

Like the Smell of a Fireplace in Full Swing

This song congers up visions of crisp air on my cheeks, and a roaring fire in the fireplace. Wrap it all up in your favorite friends or family members and you've got yourself...

Well I think that is for you to decide.
